Angels We Have Heard On High
Happy Birthday, Jesus! Big party going on up there
. Joyful noise indeed!
Watercolor Experiments
It’s good to experiment outside of your comfort zone once in a while because while you need to be good at one thing at least, it can become limiting. One of my professors got me interested in combining things, plus I noticed a lot of the quirky children’s books used mixed media. But more on THAT project later. Here, I took a watercolor class just to become familiar with the medium. I was quite pleased to see that watercolors definitely blend faster than acrylics! Not that I’ve become a watercolor fanatic (hardly!!) but at least I am not terrified of it anymore. Here are a few (incomplete) ones I did. I’m still a beginner at it, but this will become useful ..someday.
Gorxus
Sketching for my sci-fi/fantasy class again. I must say, this stuff is fun!
Serious Business
Bad news.
Heyah!
A rough sketch; I have to refine it some more but it’s the first time I put the values in without rendering in pencil and I kind of like it. But I’m probably gonna go back to penciling now because I feel more in control that way. This piece is going to be for more mature audiences.. like ages 8-10 haha. I will draw for allllll the little children!!
More Sneak Peaks?
One of the children’s books I’m working on at the moment. Anytime I get to write my own stuff is good. Anyway, this is in progress obviously but it’s time to switch gears and finish up the painting from the previous post!
Dragony
One of my paintings in progress, for my sci-fi/fantasy class. Still a lot of things on it that I need to work on, but that’s what happens when you’re working on like 5 other acrylic paintings at the same time.. things will need touching up. I went through an entire book of palette paper just with my acrylics in the past month.
Anyway, I think every children’s artist paints a dragon at some point in their life. This one’s rated PG for ..suggested violence.
Time to hit the bed …wait what is that again?
More
Reptiles are really ugly to me.
If you were wondering, these are just character sketches for a story I’m illustrating. It’s how I get into that world.
